I’m Brontë Burkart. I’ve been shooting since I was 13, and I picked up film photography shortly after. I am passionate about capturing raw, unfiltered moments. All the images you see are exactly how they looked the moment I pressed my finger on the shutter button. My goal is to capture the beauty around me, not create a false version of it. Living in the 21st century and shooting on film goes against the instant gratification culture craves. However, film has been anything but lackluster to me; it makes me stop and think through my images. I contemplate the composition, lighting, and focus of every photo; it makes me wait. I love that it never pulls me out of the moment. Once I commit, I don’t see that image for weeks at a time. This means that when I see my work, I’m excited because I get to view my photos from a fresh perspective. My prayer is that my work will touch you. My prayer is that my work goes beyond mere images and evokes the emotions of what it means to be human.
